I just don't like their interface. It seems to me it shouldn't be that complicated to put a bunch of text on a website. And apparently I can't stay logged in for more than a few days, and every week I have to re-read the TSA, and because I uploaded all my old stories in one go because why the heck not someone sent me a message telling me I was spamming. I don't even know what that means in an FF.net context.
I am sure if I keep uploading there I'll get the hang of it and it will be fine, but right now I'm like, "Screw you and your learning curve, FF.net."
haha, well fight the power then. Though unless that spam message was from a mod, I don't really think it's gonna add up to anything. So don't worry about it.
DA's even worse when it comes to posting prose though--formatting's a bitch, the categories are constrained, and it's neigh-impossible to get your work noticed on merit alone.
You can't even type emdashes in a DA textbox. emdashes.
It was more annoying than anything. Like, why is that even worth commenting on? But oh well.
I know dA isn't that great either, but I personally haven't had any problems with formatting or the emdashes (you may have noticed I use the double-dash, which was actually planned when I first wrote the stories). There's just a lot more steps to uploading to FF.net, and I'm not wearing my patient hat .
I think it's just because most of what I upload is longer, multi-chapter fics. Since every chapter is around 3000 words, it's a drag to C&P it into the DA textbox, then go through and format everything. I suppose we both need new patience hats.
